Waste not--want not!

Ever since our county initiated its recycling program they have taken glass bottles, newspapers, cans, and plastic that's labeled 1 and 2.

That all changes on Wednesday.  As of June 1st, they will now allow you to toss out ANY plastic.

Yea!

As it happens, because of the Memorial Day holiday, our garbage, which usually goes out on Tuesdays, will be picked up on Wednesday:  June 1st.

Ever since I heard of the new ruling, I've been saving all my other plastic.  Why let it go into the landfill when in two weeks it would be recycled.

Does your county recycle all plastics?

  1. Please!!! use any saying you want except "waste not want not". My mother uses it in almost every conversation. She may not die a 'normal' death if I hear it one more time. :^P

  2. We take ours to a county recycling center where they take almost everything. It has greatly reduced the amount of trash we burn or send to a landfill. However, the Commonwealth of PA in its weird wisdom is contemplating forcing everyone to have trash pickup. Don't they realize how much that costs? Here in the country we have a closed burnstove that's very safe.

  3. Yeeesssss!!! At long last (13+ years) our town here in NJ is finally picking up recyclables!!! Now we can get rid of our cans, glass, plastic, cardboard, newspapers, magazines and even Styrofoam! Bliss. Pure bliss. (Of course, they only pick up every 2 weeks, but that is a HUGE and delightful change.) With property taxes sky high around here, and the fact we still have to pay private companies to haul away our garbage, to have the town do this one thing to help recycle is a major step forward. Glad to hear your county is doing its part!
