Welcome to my World . . .

If you live in a snowy part of the country and have gutters on your house, you're probably well aware of ice dams.  Everyone says you have to have them, or the snow melt will wash away the dirt around your foundation, but to me gutters are pretty useless -- at least in the winter.  All they do is get choked with ice and ruin your roof.  Raking the roof of snow seems to help, but the back of my house it too tall for that, so I can only reach the roof around the front of the house.

This is what our barbecue looks like this winter.  (Note the Stalactite icicle.)

We won't be cooking hot dogs for quite a while. How about you?

  1. I live in Colorado and we've had hardly any snow - the first light snow winter since we moved her almost five years ago. It makes driving a lot easier, but I work in a school and we sure wanted some snow days (yeah, I'm just like the kids) and a white Christmas sure be nice.

  2. Looks just like my yard in nw Indiana, lots of snow.
I see Colorado has a lot of snow on the western slopes area of the Rockies, but the front range area nice and clear, gotta love those mountains. Wish I lived there - the front range. I have been monitoring the weather there since we went on vacation in July.

  3. No icicles here in my gutters....just snow drifts :-P Beautiful and sunny today. The snow on the drive way has been blown and shoveled and now the sun is doing it's melting thing.
That might mean icicles will be forming tho.

  4. We are having a strange winter so far her in Michigan. The snow is staying along the lake shore which is not that strange but we only have a couple of inches in our neck of the woods which is not much for us. I am not missing it myself.

  5. Stupendous icicles! Here in Central Texas, we're praying for rain to alleviate the high fire danger. It was 80 degrees yesterday. Some place not so extreme as yours or mine would be good!
