I opened the box and there it was--a white power cord. That's it.
Hmmm.
I wondered what the heck that was. Then I realized there was something stuck to the top of the box.
I felt my jaw drop as I realized it was a Kindle. MY Kindle!
That was the last thing I expected and I was a bit overwhelmed. I mean, it wasn't even the cheapie model!
"Why?" I managed to say with surprise and delight.
"I thought you should be able to read your own ebooks," he said.
Whoa! The only problem is -- I have not had time to play with it. And should I read my own stories first? Should I buy a bunch of old favorites so that I could always have them at hand wherever I go? Or should I buy some new books--books by my friends?
So there is sits, empty. So far I think hubby has had more fun with than me. Okay, I'll admit it, I'm a little intimidated by it, too. But I'm sure that won't last long. It's a new toy.
Cool.
So, any suggestions on titles I should acquire?
You should definitely get your titles, books from the Cozy Chicks authors and if you're looking for some good book thoughts, check out Dru's Cozy Report tomorrow, all available on the Kindle.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your questions - yes, yes, and yes.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you don't have to choose which books to download. It will hold all you want.
I've had mine for almost two years now and don't know what I'd do without it. It has about 600 books and still counting.
Whee! First, (although I'm sure this has already happened) give Mr. Lorna (Hi, Frank!) a BIIIIG hug!! After that, download all the books you WANT to read -- your own, your friends, and authors you've always wanted to read.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm not sure how Amazon works, but I bless my Nook because B&N allows you to download FREE books! Yep, FREE ones. I've downloaded the free first book in 'way too many series (see, they want to get you hooked so ...) and then I've spent mumble-mumble bucks buying all the REST of those series because the first one I downloaded was so durn good. Does Amazon do that, too? Of course there's also the "classics" B&N has offered as freebies -- just downloaded the complete books/stories of Sherlock Holmes & a huge bunch of Mary Roberts Rinehart's books. Sometimes, when an established author starts a new series (such as J.A. Jance), they'll offer that first one as a freebie, too. Now I have more books on my Nook than I'll be able to read in several months, but that isn't stopping me from looking at new offerings, and drooling over my favorite mystery authors. (And, yes, I've got several Jeff Resnick books/stories on my Nook, too!!) Don't be afraid of your new Kindle, have fun with your new toy, and get downloading!
