What's with the weather?

I live in a part of the US that has four distinct seasons.  Except they aren't.  Distinct, that is.  Winter eases into spring, eases into summer, eases into fall, eases back to winter.

Right now we're a month into spring and the weather doesn't know what the heck it wants to do. (Maybe that's why I like spring least of all.)  It can be rainy, snowy, windy, sunny all in one afternoon.  Or it can be incredibly hot.  Eight years ago we went to a wedding on March 30th and it was 82 degrees.  The next day it snowed.

The calendar says it's spring, but my furnace will probably be chugging along every night right into June.  (One year we were still running it into early July.)

Once summer finally arrives in July, it keeps going into October.  I like that.  Warm days, cool nights, right into mid-October.  Winter--forget it.  Ick, Ick, Ick for months on end. And then we're back to spring and the weather doesn't know what it wants to do again.

So, what's your favorite season?  And do you have a beef to share today?

  1. It's snowing on my daffodils at the moment. Not too thrilled with that. Beef? I think I have the whole cow.

  2. Springtime in Texas is my favorite. I just wish we would get some rain. It does seem like it is feast or famine when it comes to rain in Texas. You think you'll be running your furnace into July and I've been cooling my house down with the AC since February. Well, not everyday but it did get hot enough in February for the AC. You know what they say about the weather, wait a few hours and it will change.

  3. I'd reply to your comments but it's been so windy here that words just seem to fly away. :D We've had so much rain our yard is a swamp, it's mud season. And then suddenly one day it will be summer and we won't be used to hot weather. Can't win.

  4. Am I the only person who loves spring? (When it's sunny, you understand.) Today is a perfect example. Fifty-five degrees, sunny w/fluffy clouds, breezy so it's not too hot but still comfortable w/a light jacket and ... the trees! The flowers! The explosions of blooms, buds, REAWAKENING!!! Uh, y'think I'm overdoing it a bit? Well, after gloom and snow and cold ... I feel like kicking up my heels and dancing in welcome. (Besides, my allergy meds have kicked in and no sneezing or drippy nose!! WHEEE!)

  5. Why is it cold? Where is the real Spring-like weather? Now I want summer to arrive.
